I’m not a politician; I’m a businessman, so I won’t make campaign promises. I will, however, give you some guarantees. As your councilman at-large, I will:

  • Work hard to run city government like a business
  • Defend personal property rights
  • Create a climate where small businesses can prosper
  • Bring business we want to locations we need
  • Protect you from rising crime
  • Push for responsible growth that fits Aiken’s character

WELLS WINS RE-ELECTION

Don Wells has been declared an unofficial winner in Tuesday's Aiken Republican primary.

Stuart Bedenbaugh, the executive director of Aiken County Registration and Elections, said late Tuesday that the unofficial results, still to be certified, showed there's no need for a runoff.

The at-large seats went to the two top vote-getters: Steve Homoki, with 1,791 votes, and incumbent Don Wells, with 1,661.

Wells said he appreciated Aiken voters turning out to select him for another four-year term, beginning in November.

"I was truly humbled because there was an excellent field of candidates,” Wells said Tuesday night. “I just can't tell you how honored I am to have been re-elected. And I;ve very humbled tonight to have voters say, We want you to serve another four years.”’

None of Tuesday's winners face opposition in the Nov. 3 general election and won't be required to run in that contest unless write-in candidates file to run by an October deadline. The deadline to file as a petition candidate is Sept. 18.

Thanks for your support.
